Bridge, The time

How many times have you woken up in the morning, sat on the edge of bed facing window, and kept looking at the golden reflections in the river? How many times have you returned home in the evening, looked out from the window and searched for your camera to capture all the heavenly shades of light in sky and the dancing reflections in the river? I have experienced that for almost an year till date!
Even after spending 2 years in this apartment on the bank of Sabarmati River, I still find it so amazing to look at the bridge from window or balcony... almost every day! The bridge, I feel, is something which has it's own character, feelings, moods and I like to relate to that at different times. The bridge has taken me on many thought journeys, some stretching to hours! The bridge is really capable of taking me to the other side of time.
Following are some of the pictures I took over a period of more than a year, in different seasons, or time of day. There were many more moments worth sharing, but they are captured only in my mind, completely unexplainable in words!

On a rare rainy night in Ahmedabad.

The undisturbed patch of water below the bridge.

On a cool morning in July 2009.

A warm winter evening.

A sunny evening in this monsoon.

8:02am - 8:37am

March 17, 2010 8:02am
1. Picked up the helmet, searched for the lock as usual and opend the door to leave for office.
2. Door, which opens inside, had a polythene milk fountain hanging from the door handle and a dog, that was drinking milk till now looked disturbed.
3. I realised, someone had kept the ground-floor staircase door open as usual today also, the dog happily came to fourth floor and tore the fresh milk polybags hanging from door handle. Rest of the action was natural.
4. With helmet in one hand and the lock in other, I quickly removed the milk bags from door handle and ran to the kitchen sink.
5. It didn't take more than few microseconds for me to calculate how much late I will be for office.
6. But it was wrong.
7. While all this was happening, somehow lot of milk had accumulated in my helmet and I HATED it!
8. I tried calling sid to inform him not to use the milk, but he didn't pick the phone as usual (I mean as usual in such situations).
9. With a handkerchief lining for the helmet, I left on my bike.
10. I liked the way my bike sounded today, or may be I was actually revving too much and going little too fast.
11. The road looked like it was holiday for everyone and I was the only one getting late for office as usual!
12. Even after lot of honking one activa uncle only adjusted his mirrors, looked at me in the mirror and refused to let me overtake as usual.
13. But he didn't know the dog-milk-helmet story, I managed to overtake through just-enough space leaving him blowing his horn for I don't know what.
14. Near my favourite shivranjani right turn, one homely and 'prosperous' office-goer balck-and-white holiday mood uncle standing in the middle of the raod felt my body language on the turn was too aggresive and I was going to kill him! Though there was more than lot of distance between us, may be 'the loud sound + bike lean angle' scared him and I felt really bad for him. I said 'sorry and forgive me god' inside my milk bathed helmet.
15. I was not late for office. :)
16. The interesting girl looked interesting as usual and the nicely dressed girl was nicely dressed as usual.
17. Wished 'good morning' to our 65 year young bengali colleague and he told some memory from his old time in old bombay as usual.
18. Didn't even realise then that he said 'Bombay'!
19. As I was entering studio, Mr. HS wished me 'good morning' with a face that successfully communicated "You better deliver that nonsense today".
20. Received some sweet mail from a sweet friend. :)

Life is interesting, as usual!

I wanna fly high with u baby

Quite a boring sunday, though I spent a lot of time washing, polishing my bike thoroughly. Also opend and assembled as many parts of it as possible.

The tiny ceiling fan in my bedroom has stopped working. So I have managed to occupy some space on the sofa in living room. Just booted my laptop and found this old video, so watched it. From this place I can actually see three movies simultaneously as Kiran and Sid are also watching something on their respective laptops. I guess Kiran is watching something really hilarious, as we are regularly distracted by his laughter-quakes. There is nothing much interesting to share on the blog, but I have really nothing to do now! Kiran offered me few movies, but his descriptions didn't encourage me to watch them. e.g. He said, "bhavin, watch this movie 'my sassy girl'. its really good yarrrrr... u will cry at the end!"

Anyway, enjoy this video. Nothing so great, but it has bikes, babes and beaches. :)

UPDATE: After around 30 minutes (as per sid it was an hour) of my voluntary efforts to try to 'keep reading signs of my (shakira's) body', I have also found that the movie running on Sid's laptop is..... 'My sassy girl'!!! Congrats Kiran. Here is link to sid's blog about the movie, though he has said hardly anything about the movie actually!

All the precious moments....

And I wished for so long, cannot stay...
All the precious moments, cannot stay...
It's not like wings have fallen, cannot stay...
But I feel something's missing, cannot say...

Holding hands are daughters and sons
And their faiths just falling down, down, down, down...
I have wished for so long
How I wish for you today

We all walk the long road. Cannot stay...
There's no need to say goodbye...
All the friends and family
All the memories going round, round, round, round
I have wished for so long
How I wish for you today

And the wind keeps roaring
And the sky keeps turning gray
And the sun is set
The sun will rise another day...

We all walk the long road. Cannot stay...
There's no need to say goodbye...
All the friends and family
All the memories going round, round, round, round
I have wished for so long
How I wish for you today
How I've wished for so long
How I wish for you today

Viramgaman

"Little more than 60km from Ahmedabad, there is this place Viramgam, an ancient town with fortification having five entrance gates. Munsar Tank, the finest example of civic architecture, is located on the western edge of the town. This is one of the largest man-made tanks in Gujarat, dating from the 11th (or 12th?) century. The tank epitomizes the fusion of hydraulic engineering and architectural aesthetic values of Minaldevi, who patronized the construction of this tank. The architectural style is similar to the Sahastralinga Talav of Patan. The shape of the tank is not a perfect rectangle, but like a Conch or Gomukh. Originaly there were 520 shrines on the bank of Munsar Tank, out of which 360 survive. Most of them are Shiva Shrines, along with a few Vaishnava Shrines. These shrines are typical of the early Chalukya architectural style. Each Shiva Shrine has 3 niches housing images of Mahakaal, Bhairava and Natesh. Two large twin temples, located in the middle of the south side, are also of great tourist interest. "
OK, what you all read above is taken from the great internet! So even I was quite eager to visit this munsar tank since a long time and finally managed to do so on 15th Aug 09. What me and sid got to experience can be best described as the pic below!

I mean, can you imagine the feeling of witnessing a dog peeing on the sexiest bike available and that too owned by you! But thats characteristic of this place! The carvings, sculptures, architecture is really good as described on the internet, especially the bigger twin temples with that layered wavy roof. We didn't count the number of small temples around the tank, not just because they were too many but because, to move around the place we had to be extremely cautious... some part of the place was functional as open-to-air public toilet of Viramgam! Sid and I was quite happy that the two girls, Pogo and Poorva refused to join us at last minute! But apart from the Munsar tank the trip was very nice, thanks to the extremely ride friendly weather and good road throught the ride! Even Sid was happy to ride whole 60km in one stretch which I never expected! :) ( may be because he was not riding his oldy goldy TVS victor but my Yamaha FZ... yes sadly the bike in the pic above!) The experience of riding on confusing narrow lanes of Viramgam was interesting, and so was the discovery of Sid's capability of conversing with buffaloes! We managed to enjoy. :)

For some good pictures visit my album on Orkut, and sid wil paste a link to facebook album in the comments, with some more interesting insights I guess.

(above pic is clicked by my 'dear friend' sid when I was on phone. Don't know whom to 'thank/blame', sid or the dog! both found the golden mean of their own passions)

My 10,000 km on Yamaha FZ 16 :)

4th Nov 2008 - 4th Aug 2009.
9 months 10,000 km Rs 10,000 of petrol!
everyday morning trips to office. :)
Dholka, Thol lake, Indroda nature park, Adalaj, Hathisinh temple, few aimless night rides. :)
photography (sadly I haven't clicked her enough properly, still searching for the dream model ;)
Top speed ride to Gandhinagar for Tabala concert.
one frightening oily skid recovery, :o
Please don't cut trees, they fall on bikes costing Rs. 3000 :(
my favourite slow turns, one crazy hairpin leaving NID parking challenging maximum lean angles. ;)
little tyre burnouts, hard front braking and clutchless gear-shifts (but still no stopies!) :(
everyday fast overtakes from Neharu circle to Shivaranjani bridge ;)
some of them causing my heart to beat as hard as enfield.
my pillion riders (almost everyone I wanted to be) ...... ;)
my dream pillion riders (menaka if not keira knightley) hehehehe ;)
Waiting for winter again, Modhera, Nal sarovar, Munsar tank still on plan only... :(
still planning for new paint scheme, performance kit, silencer etc
wish Vijay, Akash, sanjeev were around for unplanned trips... :(
Anyway now that I know her quite well, should take the experience few steps up ;)

Following is a video of my trip with Poorva on the never-ending thorny road (?) around Thol lake. The lack of road is quite visible, but it was a very amazing experience to ride to go nowhere....

The sad thing is that...

people judge the content from the title... thats why I avoided to write the bike word in title!!!

Just came across an article which also attempts to express what biking is and what it actually is not in real life... trying to remove the normal misconceptions about biking... yes it's actually not about just speed and the thrills involved in competing with others on road!! It's more about yourself and your daily commutes too!!!

This is the link to 2nd page of 3 page article, do read next page also... for those who don't know, and for those who 'think' they know...

Ruling the LORD...

"Remember remember the 5th november!!!..." :)
Finally, today was my first morning ride to office on my new Yamaha FZ16..
If I have to describe her in just one word, it will be 'EFFORTLESS'.. you think left and she turns left, you just wring the throttle little and it touches 50 before you notice, just after 7km of my ride and at her age of 14hours I feel as if I am using her for ages... yes... thats what I mean.. effortless!!!
Though I couldn't enjoy the ride fully because of my physical condition today, it did assured me of the joy of riding to come in future. She is called 'The lord of the streets...' And what can make one more proud than ruling the lord?...

keep walking....

I left for a long walk in the evening...
on a bridge... and it connected me to the other better world...
near a lake... and it did offer green (if not red) carpet for me to walk...
I kept walking...
I walked in the market... and it offered a lot of 'life' to me...
so I kept walking further,
happened to pass by a temple, and it offered me a mind full of peace...
And then there happened to be a long barren patch ahead me...
I stopped, felt depressed and lost...
thinking, this barren land had just nothing to offer me, neither any fuel for my walk!
And then it said, "this is the only part of your walk when you can't afford to stop!"
Keep walking....

feels like heaven…….

gliding at soothing sixty,
and road so straight at rest.
the breeze gets a bit naughty,
and I enjoy it all at my best.

Forget the bike, forget the turn
I try to close my eyes,
and it feels like heaven…….

those beauties and cuties around my bed,
especially the tall one in knitted red.
those fragrant tunes coming from my right
leave no doubt that I am a triumphant knight!

Forget the stitches, forget the sprain
I try opening the swolen eye,
and it feels like heaven!.....
