Thol Lake revisited.....

The first thing to notice was.... it was a completely different place this time!!!
Just compare two pics of the same tree shot on 23rd Nov 2008 with its highly interesting reflection and the one shot today on 26th Jan 2009 with bikes parked around it!!! For most of the initial time we spent there, I kept on telling Poorva how and how much the difference is and then realized that I should just enjoy seeing what we can, at that moment!

The interesting part of this visit was a lonnnnnnnggg walk 'inside' the lake (obvisiously not covered by water now!!!!) in an attempt to reach the other end of lake! But the small pack of Poorva's biscuits couldn't energise us so much! ;) And sadly we couldn't go far enough from the loud firangee music played by gujju families talking and eating..... wherever we went.
The last part of this trip was also quite nice, since as I had wished last time, we rode to the other side of entrance... around 4km.... again in an unsuccessful attempt to reach the other end!!! :) The ride on 4 feet wide kachcha road surrounded by thorny shrubs was quite interesting. We did discover a nice place there with 2-3 small boats, cool breeze (and gujju famiies having food). Poorva didn't seem to have any problem with these people talking so much... as she was quite busy clicking her favourite subject..... kids playing!... :)
At the end of the day... there is still so much to be seen at Thol lake!!!!

The sad thing is that...

people judge the content from the title... thats why I avoided to write the bike word in title!!!

Just came across an article which also attempts to express what biking is and what it actually is not in real life... trying to remove the normal misconceptions about biking... yes it's actually not about just speed and the thrills involved in competing with others on road!! It's more about yourself and your daily commutes too!!!

This is the link to 2nd page of 3 page article, do read next page also... for those who don't know, and for those who 'think' they know...

Adrian Tan's Convocation Speech

Please read this...

Adrian Tan's Convocation speech.

I have no words to express... I finished reading it and when I scrolled the page I was shocked to notice how lengthy it was!!!

Thank you Nista for the post.

people and processes...

Sometimes I feel people are more like processes than material objects!!!
They do not exist all the time for you, but the change they cause to you does! like the storms... many time irreversibly! Whatever they are to you, it's because of the process you undergo when they exist for you!!!
yes people are actually processes!!! processes, trying to change each other... intentionally or unintentionally.....

chain to hai apana.....

door hi se sagar jise har koi maane,

paani hai woh ya reth hai ye koun jaane,

jaise ke din se raiin alag hai,

sukh hai alag aur chain alag hai,

par jo ye dekhe wo nain alag hai

chain to hai apana, sukh hai paraaye......

sapno se bhare naina, to neend hai na chaina.....

No, I am not searching for a faster girl, but....

Here it goes again....
Trillium Muir, 382.98km/h on her Suzuki Hayabusa.... becomes the fastest woman on two wheels in the world! Those who have already read a post about Leslie Porterfield who did 374.72km/h on her hayabusa earlier, it's now 28 yr old Trillium Muir who has only 4 years of biking experience, to gain that world's fastest title! It's tough competetion now!!!

This is what she has to say about:

Her first motorcycle ride:

I have been riding for only four years. The first bike I rode was a 1977 Honda 500, around the yard. My brother John ran beside me yelling instructions on how to shift and stop…

riding on the street:

I ride my 2008 Blue/Gold Suzuki Hayabusa on the street. We have some really strict laws in Canada, so I try not to get too carried away. And the potholes are so big, I could get lost in them…

hmmm cooooool........

;)

Love in Hanover

The cuttest and sweetest real life love story I have ever read about! :)
Here it goes as published on www.guardian.co.uk, 5th Jan 2009
"It is a dream that has been shared by lovers across the centuries – the chance to elope to exotic lands. But few would have been as bold and spontaneous as six-year-old Mika and his five-year-old sweetheart Anna-Bell who, after mulling over their options in secret, packed their suitcases on New Year's Eve and set off from the German city of Hanover to tie the knot under the heat of the African sun.
The children left their homes at dawn while their unwitting parents were apparently sleeping, and took along Mika's seven-year-old sister, Anna-Lena, as a witness to the wedding.
Donning sunglasses, swimming armbands and dragging a pink blow-up lilo and suitcases on wheels packed with summer clothes, cuddly toys and a few provisions, they walked a kilometre up the road, boarded a tram to Hanover train station and got as far as the express train that would take them to the airport before a suspicious station guard alerted police.
"What struck us was that the little ones were completely on their own and that they had lots of swimming gear with them," said Holger Jureczko, a police spokesman. He described Mika and Anna-Bell as "sweethearts" who had "decided to get married in Africa where it is warm, taking with them as a witness Mika's sister".
Anna-Bell told the German television station RTL: "We wanted to get married and so we just thought: 'Let's go there.' "
Mika said: "We wanted to take the train to the airport, then we wanted to get on a plane and when we arrived we wanted to unpack the summer things and then we wanted to go for a bit of a stroll in the sun."
Mika and Anna-Lena's mother, who was not identified, said she had known nothing of her children's plan. "I'm still in a state of shock. I thought 'I'm playing a part in a bad movie.' When we realised the kids were missing we went looking for them." But only when the police called did they realise what had happened.
Asked why they failed to let their parents know, the children said they thought they would not be gone for long.
Mika told police he instigated the plan having been inspired by a winter holiday with his family in Italy. "Based on this the children began to make plans for the future," Jureczko said.
To allay their disappointment at being caught, Hanover police gave them a tour of the police headquarters. Jureczko said: "They'll have the chance to put their plan into action at a later date".

missing....

For last few days, I don't know why, but I am not feeling like writing..... inspite of having so many reasons and/or incidences worth the same.
New year resolutions, our (Sid, Poorva and me) much awaited and very interesting visit to DHOLKA, my attempts to push my top speed limit before coming to zero in front of a truck, approvals for my work finally, and even the most awful experience of skiding (strangely without falling!) on oil today morning.... nothing could inspire me to write about them.
For last few days..... something is missing!!!...

(ohh and bdw, here is our Dholka visit post on Sid's blog)

I feel the need....

A boring afternoon,
overload of stupid work,
going for a meeting in the lunch time,
I pass by the parking lot,
and I feel the need,
the need for a quick ride.

I am back from office at 6pm today!
Standing in my balcony, I look at the bridge jumping swiftly across the river.
i feel cool breeze coming from that new bridge over sabarmati,
as I sip hot tea, I sense blood rushing through my hands to fingers,
and I feel the need,
the need for a long ride.

No new mails in inbox,
nothing happening on orkut.
not a single soul is online!
While youtube is downloading julien dupont's freestyle urban stunts,
I stare at the screen for a while,
and I feel the need,
the need for a crazy ride.

I am having my midnight coffee,
sitting quietly at the middle-gate pillar,
with my baby FZ parked just in front of me.
I can't resist but continue staring at her thirstily,
I don't know if it's coffee or something else!
but I feel the need,
the need for a hard ride!
